Hi, I’m Shiri, an end-of-life doula with a focus on education, advanced care planning, self-advocacy training, life stories and legacy work, and vigil and funeral/celebration of life planning. My goal is to provide each client with the tools you’ll need to live as you wish until your final moment and to be remembered in the way that best suits your vision of a legacy. I come to this work after a fifteen year nursing career and with a master’s degree in academic theology. I’m also a writer and artist. I hold an end of life doula certification from the University of Vermont.
While I embrace the entire community, I am especially interested in offering services to members of the LGbtqIA+ community, for whom navigating end of life circumstances can be uniquely complex. This can be due to misunderstandings, provider misinformation, or outdated ideas of what constitutes a family. As a member of this community myself, I’m aware of the obstacles that stand in the way of a good death and I want to help you and your loved ones navigate them more easily. I will do my best to make sure your voice is heard.
If can also assist as above and with additional services if your beloved animal companion is at end of life. I hold a Companion Animal End of Life Doula Certification from the University of Vermont.
When I’m not working on deathcare, I’m usually reading, reviewing books, painting, writing, playing piano, stress-baking, herding cats, or fencing with my 12 and 15 year olds, who I’m thrilled still want to do something with me.
